How to customize the click ID URL parameter

Written by Manuel Frigerio

When someone clicks through to your offer from SparkLoop, we append a click ID to the landing page URL. That value is how the conversion pixel later attributes the conversion back to the right referral.

By default, SparkLoop uses the parameter name sl_click_id. Some affiliate platforms or landing page setups require a different name (for example clickid or subid). You can change that name per offer.

⚠️ Important: Changing this can break conversion tracking. Only customize the parameter when a platform requires a specific click ID name. If the name does not match what your landing page or affiliate platform expects, the conversion pixel may stop attributing conversions.

When to customize

Keep the default (sl_click_id) unless your setup requires a different parameter name.

Common reasons to change it:

  • Your affiliate network only accepts a specific sub-ID parameter (for example clickid or s1)

  • Your landing page or tag manager already reads a different click ID parameter

How to change the click ID parameter

  1. Open your offer in the SparkLoop dashboard

  2. Open Conversion Pixel (the conversion tracking modal)

  3. Click Customize click ID parameter

  4. Enter the parameter name your platform expects in Click ID URL parameter

  5. Click Save

Parameter names are normalized to lowercase URL-safe values. They must start with a letter or underscore, and may include letters, numbers, underscores, and hyphens.

Names you cannot use

These parameter names are reserved by SparkLoop and cannot be used as the click ID parameter:

  • sl_click_id

  • sl_click_param

  • submission

  • test_mode

  • sl_source
