🔒 This feature is available to Kit customers and users with an existing Referral Program.
A Subscribe-to-Win giveaway brings in new subscribers by offering them the chance to win a prize. A Refer-to-Win giveaway incentivizes existing subscribers to make additional referrals for the chance to win a prize.
A Two-Sided giveaway does both — existing subscribers who make referrals and new subscribers who sign up during the giveaway period are entered to win.
⚠️ In Two-Sided giveaways, you can choose to limit entry to existing subscribers who make referrals and new referred subscribers only.
How to create a Two-Sided giveaway
Step 1: Outline your strategy
How many referrals do subscribers need to make to enter? (We recommend 1.)
What prize will you be offering, and how many people can win?
How long will the giveaway run?
Should entrants also win regular referral rewards?
⚠️ The more referrals a subscriber makes, the higher their chance of winning. This is calculated automatically by SparkLoop when picking winners.
Step 2: Create the giveaway in SparkLoop
Head over to the Giveaways page and click Create giveaway. For a Two-Sided giveaway, select both Advocates in step 1 and New subscribers in step 2. You can configure:
How many advocate winners you want and how many referrals they need to enter.
How many winners to select from new subscribers.
Whether only referred new subscribers are eligible (not just anyone who signed up).
Click Start Giveaway when ready.
⚠️ You can set both the start and end date to be in the past if you've already announced the giveaway.
Step 3: Run the giveaway
Your subscribers already have a SparkLoop referral link from your regular referral program — this is the same link they'll share to enter the giveaway. To launch, update your newsletter's referral section with the giveaway rules and send it.
Step 4: Finish the giveaway
When the giveaway ends, you'll be notified by email. Go to the Giveaways page to pick the winners. SparkLoop randomly draws the correct number of winners from all valid entrants. Once done:
Notify the winners.
Consider sending a consolation email to people who entered but didn't win.
Publish the winners in your next newsletter (ideally with a photograph).
