SparkLoop’s easy 2-click integration lets you connect SparkLoop to your GetResponse account within seconds, no developer or complicated Zapier hacks required!

⚠️ Note: Currently, our GetResponse integration does not work with GetResponse new forms and popups. Landing pages work as expected.

We do not support GetResponse MAX.

This is a first and necessary step in setting up your campaign.

SparkLoop needs to access your email list in order to generate unique referral links and referral codes for each individual subscriber, thus ensuring they’re tracked and rewarded properly for referrals.

Don’t worry, however. This is an entirely seamless process and once you’ve selected your ESP and your list (two clicks!), your job is done.

The steps for GetResponse integration

When you sign up for SparkLoop, you will be asked to select your ESP.

From here, choose your ESP and follow the steps to import your list.

How long will the integration take?

Once you’ve selected your ESP and chosen your list, you'll need to wait for your list to finish importing.

How long will the import take?

It’s hard to say, but basically, it comes down to the size of your list.

For small lists of up to 50,000 subscribers, it’s unlikely to take more than half an hour, but if you’ve got a million subscribers on your list, then a couple of days (or more) wouldn’t be out of the question.

If it’s been more than 24 hours and your list hasn’t yet finished importing, feel free to contact us on the status. You can do so here.

What happens in GetResponse after you import your list

After you create a campaign in SparkLoop and import your list, a bunch of custom fields are automatically created in your GetResponse account.

You can check your account custom fields by visiting the Custom fields tab.

These include:

Custom field

Merge tag

Description

rh_subid

{{CUSTOM `rh_subid`}}

Subscriber's ID.

rh_code

{{CUSTOM `rh_code`}}

Subscriber's referral code.

rh_reflink

{{CUSTOM `rh_reflink`}}

Subscriber's referral link.

rh_isref

{{CUSTOM `rh_isref`}}

Whether or not the subscriber has been referred. "YES" or "NO".

rh_totref

{{CUSTOM `rh_totref`}}

Subscriber's total number of referrals since last reset.

rh_globref

{{CUSTOM `rh_globref`}}

Subscriber's all-time total number of referrals.

rh_coupon

{{CUSTOM `rh_coupon`}}

Subscriber's most-recently-won coupon code.

rh_lastreward

{{CUSTOM `rh_lastreward`}}

The ID of the last reward won by this subscriber.

rh_source

{{CUSTOM `rh_source`}}

The source of the referral, ie: sparkloop-magic or sparkloop-upscribe.

rh_partner

{{CUSTOM `rh_partner`}}

The ID of the partner who referred this subscriber. ie: "partner_abc123"

Before launching, we need to ensure that all of your newsletter subscribers have had their referral links generated and stored in the rh_reflink custom field. You can check this by visiting the Lists tab in GetResponse, clicking on the name of the list that you selected for your SparkLoop campaign and adding a filtering condition. In this case, the condition will be "Contact details > Custom fields > rf_reflink > isn't assigned" and it should show no results for your list:

If your subscribers haven’t synced, check out this guide for the reasons why they haven’t, and what you can do about it.

⚠️ Make sure to wait until the list has finished importing completely before running checks.

What happens when subscribers are deleted or unsubscribe?

SparkLoop syncs with your ESP, which means that any new subscribes and unsubscribes are updated in SparkLoop automatically.

⚠️ You need to setup SparkLoop webhook in GetResponse for this to work

However, if you manually delete a contact from your list, the subscriber will continue to show up in SparkLoop.

⚠️ Only active subscribers count towards your billing.

And that’s it. Once your GetResponse account is integrated with SparkLoop, you’re ready to start putting together your referral program.

Setting up webhooks

  1. Go to GetResponse webhooks settings and click "Create webhook".

  2. Enter "SparkLoop" as the "Webhook name" of the webhook.

  3. Copy the webhook URL from your SparkLoop checklist and paste it in the "Webhook URL" field. Your webhook URL will look like https://hooks.sparkloop.app/teams/team_yourid123/get_response?token=123abc but with an id and token that are specific to your account.

  4. Check the following events: Contact subscribed, Contact unsubscribed.

  5. Toggle "Webhook status" (it should be "Active") and click "Create Webhook".

You'll be redirected back to the Webhook settings. If you still don't see the new webhook, please refresh the page.

Adding tracking script to GetResponse landing page

⚠️ Note: Currently, our GetResponse integration does not work with GetResponse new forms and popups. Landing pages and plain HTML forms work as expected

1. To add our tracking script to GetResponse landing page, please go to your landing page editor. You can add a "Custom code" by double clicking on the last element of the toolbar that appears on the right side of the page.

2. Copy the script from your SparkLoop checklist, paste it on the textbox and save.

3. You can then click on "Next step" on the top right of your page, complete your settings, save and publish.

⚠️ Note: If you are using Upscribe, then your landing page can't redirect to a thank you page, complete step 4 to deactivate that option

4. After clicking on "Next step", scroll down to "Subscription" settings and select "Stay on current page" on the "Thank-you page" option.

Using GetResponse plain HTML forms

⚠️ Note: GetResponse plain HTML forms no longer count with technical support and are only available to old GetResponse accounts

1. If you want to use plain HTML forms, select "Legacy forms" when creating a new form.

2. Then double click on "Plain HTML", copy the provided HTML code and paste it on your site.

Remember that the tracking script must be also installed in the page where you add this form.

Adding the referral section to your GetResponse newsletter

1. Start by copying the HTML code provided for you by SparkLoop. You can find it in the "Referral Section" page of your campaign.

2. Then in GetResponse newsletter editor, drag "Custom HTML" from the menu on the right side of the page and drop it in your newsletter body, wherever you want this section to appear.

3. Finally, paste the code in the textbox that appears under "Insert HTML code" and click "Back".

The referral section will be rendered on the newsletter body.

You may notice tags that look like {{CUSTOM `rh_reflink`}} within the referral section. Don't worry, if the rh_reflink custom field is complete for your contacts, GetResponse will replace the tag for the value stored in that field for each specific contact using dynamic tags.

Adding segments to GetResponse

1. Start by visiting the Lists tab in GetResponse and clicking on the name of the list that you selected in SparkLoop. Click on "Add condition":

2. You can add one or more conditions, and select if the segment should include contacts that match all of the conditions or contacts that match any of all the conditions. Once that is done, you can save those conditions as a segment to reuse later by clicking "Save as segment":

3. Finally give your new segment a name and save it:
